Savage ® developed the MSR-15 Recon LPR Semi-Auto Rifle for long-range tactical engagements. The Recon LRP uses a 6.8 SPC bolt carrier group and has an 18 barrel to optimize velocities. The barrel has a heavy contour and a Melonite QPQ ® finish that is thinner and harder than chrome lining, ultimately reducing friction and prolonging barrel life. The barrel is also fitted with a Savage MSR tunable muzzle brake. The gas block is adjustable (excludes 6.8 SPC) to specific ammunition for optimum cycling. The MSR-15 Recon LRP semi-auto rifle features a free-float M-LOK ® handguard, a Hogue ® pistol grip, and a Magpul ® CTR collapsible buttstock. The upper receiver has a full-length Picatinny rail that lines up with the handguard rail, providing ample rail length for mounting tactical sights.
